So Just a Super Quick Update...December 28, 2015

So just a super quick update...

This week was fabulous. Had so many eating appts, I know I have gained at least 5 kilos. But Christmas and Christmas eve was so great. The people here are so wonderful...just the nicest people ever. We were able to teach some great lessons and the spirit was so strong as we shared of the birth of our savior sa mga investigators and less actives namin. And that awesome quote (thanks mom) "to catch the real meaning of Christmas we must only drop the last syllable...and it becomes the spirit of Christ" just in my head all week.

the ward Christmas party was on Tuesday, that was fun....our investigators came with their kids so that was just the best to see them. They really enjoyed it. One of them sister Shirly, accepted an ibd this week as well and the goal date we are aiming for is january. She is really progressing. She was also able to come to the baptism the elders had on Saturday so it was neat for her to see how it all happened.  her kids came as well...we are hoping we will also be able to start teaching them.

Anyways, life is so great. There is so much to be grateful for. hope you all have a happy new year. 2015...!!!!...like what theeee. We were listening to a talk yesterday by Elder Holland about new beginnings and not looking back. (referencing to lot's wife) It takes faith to look to the future, but that is what our heavenly father wants us to do.

Anyways, time is uppp for today, but I love you all so so so much! It was so wonderful skyping! Like really it made my whole christmas! You are all the BEST!

happy new year

Merry Christmas!

Welp guys. Guess what? I got transfered last week. haha I am in Bauang..Bauang 2nd branch. This area is serioulsy the BEST. It is a bigger area and very humble area din. The people are just....the best. (Wow sorry I feel like I don't know any other adjectives anymore.) My new comp is Sister Lomibao and she is also...the best. haha For reals how did I get so blessed?

Second of all, MERRY CHRISTMAS!!!! As me and sister l have been teaching this week we have focused a lot on the Savior of course and the true meaning of christmas. In 2 nephi 19:6 it says "For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given..." As I was reflecting on this and teaching these people my mind always comes back to just how blessed we all are... That we have the gospel in our lives and the knowledge that we have a Father in Heaven who loves us without measure. He loves us so much He gave us his only begotten son. We have a savior who loves us all so much he suffered individually for all of us and gave his life. We all have the opportunity to return back to them. Sooo lets remember how blessed we are and focus on the TRUE meaning of Christmas. When it is so unbelievably easy to get caught up in the shopping and gifts and wish lists that christmas brings lets remember what REALLY matters. This is the time of year to focus on our Savior. HE is the gift. HE has given us the chance to gain eternal life.... so lets think of something this year we can do to give back to HIM.

Well now I will continue...This week has been one of miracles. WE have been finding like crazzzzyyyy trying to find those souls who are prepared and ready to hear the gospel and we have been talking to EVERYONE and i mean EVERYONE! We were blessed to find 9 solid new investigators and not only that, 3 of them came to church the first time on sunday for allll three hours! How AWESOME is that!? I was on cloud nine...I can't even express how happy I was..and another one that we have been teaching a while came as well with her kids. It was the most wonderful day ever. I love this branch so much.

Kay ready for a cool story? So sis l and i go out finding and we are walking down this street with like no people out so we walk a little bit more and then go, ok. Just give us one person heavenly father. And we say, the next person we see we will talk to them. So, we are walking and on the side in a little bamboo house is a older man washing something in a bucket. He all of the sudden turns around *side not, we had not said a word yet* and says (in tagalog) "Let me go get you both a chair I feel like you have something important to tell us" ....................WHAT?! Him and his wife who actually has breast cancer came to church yesterday. Miracle.

ok ready here is the last one, we  are at this one inv and she has 5 kids. there house is basically dirt ground and wood on the sides and she is great, super sweet and receptive etc and then.......she pulled out this noodle stuff they had left....she got out two bowls and gave them to us. i almost cried. she was like this was from earlier..."sorry i didn't have all the ingredients...its only milk and noodles...we didn't have cream....." My heart was so full of gratitude. People here are so amazing. She didn't have a lot but gave it to US. Like amazing. That is called charity..the pure love of christ. She also came to church on sunday with all her kids. Ah!

Merry merry christmas everyone, I hope you all enjoy the week and remember the true reason for the season. :) LOVE LOVE LOVE you all more than anything.

Thank you all so much sa LAHAT!

We were SO blessed this week!

Hello familyyyy.

So every week sympre has its ups and downs...and always the ups outway the downs. But I feel like this week it was all upssssss. Like, wow. We were SO blessed this week. It was one of those weeks on sunday nights we just looked back and saw changes. I mean we have seen changes. In the area, in the people we are teaching...in the ward...its been a Christmas miracle. I know that there is no way that would be possible without prayer (and the prayers of you all) hard work, and the help of Heavenly Father.

Where do I even start?! Ok, how about the fact (now I will refer you back to two or three weeks ago, in the email when I shared the exciting news we had found an inv who was actually interested, Regine.) welp everyone, she came to church. Not only did this cute little pregnant woman come to church but she also brought her husband. We have been able to continue to teach her the past couple weeks and she is still praying to knw but has been reading the book of mormon and has so much potential. She is due in like two weeks and does everything like normal its so funny. Our other inv Cecile went back to her province but will be coming back hopefully by the end of this month.

Now another miracle, our less active family that we have been working with for how many months now iscomin. back. It has been AMAZING to see the changes in that couple. especially brother...he went from getting drunk everyday and now hasn't drank in almost three weeks.  His desire is SO strong and he committed to come back to church this week on sunday for the first time in a couple years. He was very active before and when we teach him we can see the affects of the atonement in his life as he is changing. Really its incredible. He is reading the b of m again and (i think he knows it better than I do haha) his wife even bore her testimony in church last week about how the gospel back in her life is making all the difference. Like people the gospel is just so true.

Once again, like I know I say every week. I am so grateful to be serving here. I am so grateful for the atonement of Jesus Christ.  In Moroni 10:32 it talks about coming unto christ at maging ganap sa kanya..becoming perfect in him..I know we can do that. through him our lives can be changed. I know the hard times in our lives help us grow stronger. I love my Savior and I am grateful for the humbling opportunity to represent Him and share my knowledge of the gospel to the people here in the Philippines.

Have a fabulous week everyone!

I LOVE LOVE LOVE YOU ALL!! MAHAL NA MAHAL KO KAYO!

 Sister Haider and me

Hello!

i'm ok! it didn't hit here! we were very blessed. but its all gooood in the hoood here.

This week was good. I really have been working hard with Sister Haider...we have been able to see a lot of improvement in the area...Not quite yet with the ward but in the area we have seen some great changes. It makes me feel such comfort to be reminded every day that this is the Lord's work and he is so aware of all of us. We have seen great things happen with our investigators and especially our less actives here in San Juan. The highlight was being able to teach a family of less actives (we have been teaching for a long time) and seeing Sister come to church and Brother has stopped drinking and has started reading the Book of Mormon again. It was so amazing! The spirit was so strong in those lessons.

bye momma! LOVE YOU!!!!!! BYE DADDY THANKS FOR THE EMAIL! TALK TO YOU ALL NEXT WEEK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :) AND WE WILL PLAN SKYPE DATES!!! EEEEEEEEEEEEEPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPP

Have a great week everyone.

LOVE YOU

I am just so grateful to be here and to be a missionary! December 1, 2014

Hello family...
I wish I could just photo copy my journal entries this week and send them to you. There was sooo many crazy experiences this week! First of all, I am so grateful for my companion, her and her little Pakistani self. haha Sister Haider is just the best. I feel like I could tell anyone anything they wanna know about pakistan now not just the Philippines so if you have questions....haha

It was definitely a week I am so. grateful for. Thanksgiving Sister haider and I went to the hosptial for my migraines...and yeah..mom you know the deats on that one. When we got home we had the american macaroni and cheese (sister smiths mom sent) and mashed potatoes. I havn't had either of those since last year! Later on that day Sister Garcia (one of my favoriteeee people in this area) also fed us soo much pancit and fried chicken...it felt like thanksgiving because I was soooo full.

I can't believe its december! It feels nothing like it because it is soo hot, but the people started decorating about...two months ago so everyones little stars and lights and wreaths are on their doors..it is so cute.

I have witnessed soo many blessing happen this week...The biggest blessing might have been meeting Sister Cecile. She is SO prepared my goodness. We actually met her about a month and ago...and long story short... I was very humbled. I assumed she would want to bible bash as nice as she was because she used to be a Methodist preacher so we said hello/goodbye and went separate ways...but when we (not by chance) met with her again all she really wanted was to hear the message of the restoration. I don't know where we were the last three lessons.. she was there with us sitting in the lessons when we were teaching some of our less actives and we didn't even notice...When we finally talked to her again and realized we had met her before she shared her desire to listen to the lessons. It was so wonderful, we have been able to teach her almost every day this week and have felt the spirit so strong...she came to know it was true so quickly and really was prepared by God. She had been wanting to meet with us for a long time and when she accepted the book of mormon...ah man. those are the moments i live for.

I am just so grateful to be here and to be a missionary...Every week there is definitely ups and downs. Sometimes its very hard when people don't always want to listen to you or act on commitments...but I know that when times are hard that is ok, it builds us and shapes us and gives us an opportunity to act on our faith which in the end brings us closer to our heavenly father. I know He knows us each individually. And I know He really is there for us always. I know this is His work. The gospel is His plan for us to return back to him. I have come to know to importance of acting and not being acted upon...we can choose how to respond to situations. I have had so many times this week after leaving lessons and just wanting to cry..because I feel like I do everything I can and they are still not wanting to change at all... But people have their agency. I know that is also part of God's plan. We just need to use our agency wisely so we can receive the greatest of all blessings, eternal life.

Have a great week everyone. LOVE YOU xoxoxoxox

WHAT A FABULOUS WEEK.

WHAT A FABULOUS WEEK. Everyone. Let me just tell you this week. was. great. It was so exhausting and so happy. Side note, can I just mention again how much I am so in love with the philippines? Ok. I just love the phillippines....SO MUCH. Kay Im done now.

First of all, happy thanksgiving to all reading this! I have been feeling extra blessed this week doing the Lords work and honestly. I have seen more than one miracle.. countless!! This morning as we were pumping water from the well for our bucket showers to bring into the bathroom I was thinking...at least more often than not (even though there is still no flushing toilets) we have running water to wash the dishes ect...*blessing*...

And then there was this one time this week...oh wait make that 2 TIMES this week we were able to teach a less active brother (the first times) who completely opened up to us about concerns ect and the greatest blessing was him realizing what changes he needs to make in his life and come back to shurch with his wife...and then him sharing some of his testimony with us and his desire to go to the temple with his wife to be sealed...*blessing* Like borther, that is why we are here to help you and sister!!

I COULD GO ON AND ON I REALLY COULD! I have seen so many miracles happen this week in this area...We have had so many teaching opportunities. Things I haven't seen happen in..well since I arrived here have happened. The Lords hand/help is truly in this work.

This week sister haider and I were able to find a new investigator and I am pretty sure I was so excited to teach her I almost shared lessons one two AND three...restoration, plan of salv. and every other doctrine in the church...She was asking so many questions and really wanted to know...it was like cloud 9. Having someone this week actually WANT to listen to what we have to say and ACCEPT us in their house. It was such a miracle to me.

There is so much to be grateful for...I will forever be eternally grateful for my wonderful family and sweet parents, who have been the most perfect examples for me. I am so grateful for this gospel. These are the most important things in my entire life. My heart is SO full! Have a great week everyone..Remember to count your blessings!

LOVE YOU ALL TO THE MOON AND BACK!

Anther WOnderful Week in San Juan!

My father requested I write a few experiences spiritual and otherwise. so hereeee we go mga katapid.

This week was...another wonderful week in San Juan. Somedays I still feel like I am dreaming all of this and at any moment I will wake up...maybe because the past week we have been a little tired....and I probably have been sleep walking or something. we have had our kapit bahay (neighbors) doing karaoke until all hours of the nights and then there is that one chicken farm next door...and then the dogs... But its all good it makes things interesting. Mission life is the greatest. Of course as the family knows, my companion and I have been trying really hard to help this area and our members to be strengthened.

we have actually been able to visit a lot this week and have had some really wonderful lessons. The spirit was strong. What I have noticed the most this week is the influence of the book of mormon... as we have been teaching from it and helping others to learn and apply its teachings. I have come to understand more I feel on my mission the meaning of "keystone". (does that sounds weird? thats ok.) But really think about that, the book of mormon is the Keystone of our religion....why do we need to know that is true? Because if the book of mormon is true, then joseph smith is a true prophet called of god, and this really is the gospel restored in its fullness. I know god has given us the bok of mormon for our time right now. It applies to our lives and we can come closer to Christ by abiding by its precepts. I know we can come to a knowledge of its truthfulness by reading and praying about it. Its our duty and responsibility as members to spread this book to all corners of the earth...meaning we need to to share this book to our loved ones and friends...so they can also come to know of the fullness of the gospel.

Being able to teach this message to the people of the philippines is the greatest privilege I have ever received. I know this gospel is true.

I am so grateful for you all.
I love you all so much to the moon and back!

It Was A Great Day!

Hello Parents (and family...)

First, we had the baptism of Brother Manuel which was sooo happy. It was a great day.  Basically Bro manuel was just so happy and excited to be baptized...he told us he couldn't sleep all night and after he was baptised we asked how he felt and he
just says... "Hungry." hahaha and started laughing and then he goes "Just joking! I feel great!" It was so happy! Overall the day was great... :)

I love being a missionary I really do. I know this is the lords work and there is a reason I am here in this area. I love this area and am doing everything I can to build it up.

I am doing wonderful. Missions are hard. But I know they are worth it. This is the MOSt worthwhile thing I could be doing in my life right now. I love this gospel more than anything and am more than grateful for the opportunity to be serving right now.

Oh I also got to cut sister haiders hair it looks SO Cute :)

love you all sooooooooooo much!!!!! MAHAL KITA!

Alright Here We Goooooo

ALRIGHT here we goooo

If I could describe the last three weeks in one email...yeah theres no way. BUT, I can tell you all I can't put into words how blessed I feel to be serving here in the Philippines...especially in San Juan. I really love it here. A LOT. Its a little bit of a challenge trying to strengthen the ward members...because our ward is more like a tiny branch with only 30-40 people coming each week...but me and S Haidder are having a so much fun doing it. Not to mention our area is b-e-a-utiful. Long walks on the beach on the daily...hehe:)

our investigators are...well actually our teaching pool is the size of a puddle right now....so I don't know if I can say investigators as in plural....But brother manuel is doing GREAT. He had his baptism interview yesterday and keeps telling us it will feel like Christmas on the 25th of October...because thats what day his baptism is. the experiences S Haider and i have had teaching him has been so amazing. He is 84 and is the cutest. He is so prepared. the other week we had the greatest time teaching about receiving an answer to prayers..he had doubts about Joseph smith and after our lesson there was a powerful promise he would receive an answer in three days if he prayed to know...the next day we came back and he said, "Guess what! I have great news! I prayed last night..." and then he told us the story about 3 times since then about how he felt the spirit so strong testify to him Joesph Smith is a true prophet, and how he just knows. That is the coolest thing to me, because its so true. If we ask with desire and faith Heavenly Father's promise to each of us is the truth will be manifested through the power of the Holy Ghost. I know for a fact, not a doubt in my heart or mind, that Joseph Smith is a prophet called of God to restore the true church of Jesus Christ back on the earth today. And through him we have the fullness of the gospel contained in the Book of Mormon. No doubt about it.

We had zone interviews this week with president....I was so pumped after the interview...I wanted to start with the talk I read about the Book of Mormon. That was so inspiring for me. It made me want to give out Book of Mormons to every person in Ili Norte, Ili Sur amd Taboc! The Book of Mormon and the spirit really are central to conversion. I know as a missionary I could do better with this. One of the unique differences in our message, is that we have the fullness of the gospel contained in the Book of Mormon, so we can't be afraid to share that right away. I have tried this before and remember the difference in it. People will want to know more.

I also was very encouraged this week after the zone interviews. I was able to take so much from that on how I can be a more effective missionary...Like the analogy you placed before me. If we are playing a game of tennis. I know the way the game is played. I just need to notice my weak points and make them strengths to become a better player. The greatest part about this is I know that I have a coach, our Heavenly Father, that is with me the entire game and will always help me. He has given me guides and "how-to's" to be even better and to "score points".  I really was inspired by this and know it will help me to be a better instrument in the hands of the Lord. It has been a great week and Sister Haider and I look forward to another. She is such a wonderful companion!

What elseeee exciting....I already told you mom and dad, but I tried Balou....if you don't know what it is google it. And then be way impressed because the whole chick and everything else in the egg was... yeah...I won't eat it again maybe. (sister rozal said she would tell us the anatomy of the egg after we ate it...I couldn't even listen haha) I am also adjusting to pakistani culture..Sister Haider is so awesome and cooks us such delicious food!!!

anyways, life is so wonderful.

Love you all to the moon and back MAHAL KO KAYO

Back to Sandy Toes and A Sun kissed Nose! September 28, 2014

Well I am definitely back in the Philippines...coming back down to the lowlands is soo wonderful, I can't even describe. My new area is in san juan so it is by the fields and on the beach... back to sandy toes and a sun kissed nose, listening to the waves...oh and cold bucket showers in the morning, no flushing toilets, waking up to goats and chickens every morning, riding trykes, hand washing all my clothes, being sweaty 24/7....honestly life doesn't get better.

My new companion is Sister Haider and I absolutely adore her. She is from Pakistan and we have so much fun together.

~brookee's new companion sister haider~

The area here is really progressing and so we are having fun finding (yes she actually likes to find with me) so we get to talk to a lot of people every day and are finding a lot of potentials. It is very exciting. When I got here there were already a few that are really progressing and so getting to know everyone and teach them more is so great. The ward is good, we have about 30 members on average coming every week..so it will be good to work with the less actives. I have always loved visiting less active members. and i love it here....im so excited to work here...after being in one area so long change is good. i am so grateful to be here. i have had a lot of cool experiences this week... we are teaching one old man M. who has an ibd for this coming month and he is progressing so much...he is so cute...he is 84 and always says bffs tayo (we are bffs hahahahahaha) i laugh so hard every time. he comes to church every sunday and everything.  its great.  the ward is tiny with only 30 ppl but i am excited to what i can to help strengthen it.

Man,..we had a lot of really great experiences this week, too many to share. I will be sure to get on that next week and send more pics :) But missionary life is still the best ever and I am so grateful to be here.. I already love this area so much.

I know the gospel is true.

SO This Week was Crazy! Typhoon "Super Mario" September 21, 2014

Helloooo my favorite people ever!

SO this week was crazy...Yes. I know. I say that every week. But this week really was. Haha. Promise.

Tuesday we gave workshop..again. I don't know whether E. Moimoi is just lazy or likes to give other people a turn...hahaha Wednesday was american food day..sister dial was with the other sisters for exchanges and I haven't lived with americans for 6 months so we made chili and brownies. Oh so sweet. (thanks for the brownies parents)

Thursday...well nothing really exciting happened thursday...ok now getting to the exciting part..

FRIDAY. So guys. I experienced working through the worst storm of my life this week. It was called Typhoon "super Mario". All day friday we worked in the rain and heard there was a bagyo coming that night. we were at the guevarras and we stepped outside and instantly we were SOAKED like i mean DRENCHED. (yes, our umbrellas were out) we were supposed to go to an appt in pinsao but we could barely see anything in front of us the rain was so hard...literally it just hit you so hard with the wind and everything. so we figured the typhoon was getting stronger and so we started the 20 min walk home..oh wait walk? no it was more like hiking up diamond creek...like up creek for reals!! It didn't matter that all the lights went out on the streets because we couldn't see much anyways..but the typhoon got stronger that night so saturday we couldn't go out to work at all...

so here is the moral of my story/experience...

I remember during this moment trying to get home just feeling so...helpless. All my energy was gone. like I was on the verge of falling over...As me and my companion kept going I didn't realize it till almost getting home that I had been praying that entire time..Praying that I would just be able to put one foot in front of the other. I can't explain the feeling I felt, besides exhaustion, I just felt so calm and and that He is so aware of me. I know Heavenly Father will always be there to help us in our times of need.

"It is better to stand in a storm with God, then anywhere else without Him"

I love my Heavenly Father so much and am so thankful that we were safe and nothing happened to our Apartment and the other Missionaries in Baguio. Remember to keep the people here in your prayers. I love you all so much.

P.S....
i left out all the times we caught rats...we have soooooooooooo many in our house we come home and they are all just scurrying across the counters hahahaha

Hello Hello Hello!!! September 14, 2014

(Brookee didn't send pictures this week,
so I am putting up one that Sister T had!)

Hello hello hello family!!!

What a great week! ( I promise I will try to work on my adjectives...a lot of times I just think in tagalog)...We had a lot going on this week...

Friday we had tri zone which was wonderful...president called on random companion ships to give workshops from chapter ten in PMG all about teaching skills...luckily I got away with only giving the closing prayer...It was a great day though and I learned alot. We had a lot of role plays (it wouldn't be a zone training if there wasn't any role plays) President also gave a great workshop on the Character of Christ...oh man it was amazing..sana I will expound more on that one next week.

Saturday morning we had a meeting with baguio zone for vaccinations in our areas to make sure all the kids are vaccinated which is just a great idea...Our investigators are doing well. we had another really great lesson with the panesa family...I really love them. We were able to teach Marjorie too who is still slowly progressing... We have still been teaching Brother G.....his wife gave him an ultimatum this week.. :( She said if he keeps coming to church and wanting to get baptized she will leave him...We know he is very strong tho and so we will keep teaching him and see what happens this week. It was a little funny tho when he goes " We are old now! She should have left me a long time ago!"

Sister LAcdo-o and I have had a really great week...my heart is so full of gratitude. I am so grateful to have this humbling experience as a missionary. I am soo grateful Heavenly Father gave me the opportunity to be serving here in the philippines.I just love these people so much and I know this gospel is true. No doubt about that! This is the true restored gospel of Jesus Christ.

remember to pray for the people in the baguio mission right now, there has been a typhoon "luis' that hit last night and I know it was a lot stronger in the lowlands.
love you long time
